It was founded around 1905. Many said that August Belmont, Sr. a respectable man from the famous Rothschild banking family who had the desire to bring the game alive.

It was run, for the first time in 1867. The venue, actually not in Belmont Park but Jerome Park Racetrack. The Belmont Park did not exist that time.

Tanya was the name of the first champion. The race then continued to be held up until now. The list of the champion as follows; Peter Pan, has won the 1907 fight, and then Mr. Colin who might has a good reputation and called the never-defeated jockeys, Man o’ War, not band name, was the crowned champion in 1920, and the 1948 came to Citation.

The battle in Belmont Race had connected all good jockeys, trainers, and horses.

Take a look at Barbaro and Bernardini, those two horses surely had written history. Not only for their power but also how they were rode victoriously by their jockeys.

There were racing ban in 1910 to 1912, and it included Belmont Spectacular Race. But the venue, Belmont Park, had made aviation history right after the Wright Brothers chose Belmont Park as the final place for the international aerial tournament that held in 1902 to 1910.
