U.S. President Barack Obama issued an emergency for North Carolina Thursday night before a forecast that the Category 3 storm will beat the state on the weekend with 185 km/h winds and 30 centimeters of rainfall. There have been forecast that the storm could be upgraded to a Category 4 before hitting North Carolina. “In this emergency I am activating all levels of state government to prepare for any situation that may be caused by Hurricane Irene.” said New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.
